MM-Jr 2

The brushes I used are a size 2, size 1 and a size 0 liner art brush.

the paint I used is just you every day craftstore water based paint in colors, Caribbean

Blue Pearl, White pearl, Black, white, Christmas Red, Pineapple yellow, Gray, Sky blue,

Leaf Green, Kiwi Green, Honeydew Green, Sage Green, Chocolate, Flesh, Cantaloupe,

Tan and orange.

I began by selecting the tips I wanted to use out of some generic tips I had for nail art

displays, glued tooth picks to the back of them and inserted them into a floral foam block

I then applied a base coat to all the tips. after letting that dry I began to paint the

background sky and ocean. Then I added the volcano and began work on the for ground.

I tried to let my mind wander to what I imagine Hawaii looked like shortly after Western
explorers arrived how a
Ali'i Chief would sail his outrigger off the waters of the Big Island. And on the beach awaiting his return his faithful waihine with a lahala basket of fruit that grew wild on the island. The great
Humpback Wale breaching out of the water close to a canoe because they had no reason
to fear people. And finally the massive eruption of Madam
Pele deep within Kilauea
crater.
Basically my mind wondered to Old Hawaii on March 31st. 1820 the first missionaries arrived to Hawaii. Tought the Hawaiians Christianity and convinced them to wear clothing Yet throught out the 1820's old coustoms still reighned supream. The first missionaries viewed the massive erupitions of the volcano as aweful ( meaning they were full of awe ) and the Humpback whale was plentyful.

My friend photographed these with her palm pilot.
