i'm a big fan of manic panic for vivid colors, but to get them good an bright you usually have to pre-lighten the hair. are you not wanting to have to lighten the hair first? or does that matter?
have you looked at the color chalking? it's temp and washes out with shampoo but for someone who just wants color for a night out on the town, it's great! |

i have been using pravana's colors and they are fine but was wondering if there is a line out there that might stay more than 1- 2 washings.. yes i know its temp color but hey, one can ask. yes i do prelighten. where do you get manic panic colors, i would be willing to try them. i also have sealed them in them with pravana sealer gloss. the purple stays pretty well but the blue just washes out really fast.

I have a few "bright" coloured clients (and my bright redhead self)... Pravana Chromasilk has been the ONLY thing that has stayed....esp. the purple. (I do prelighten a certain clients hair from a level 6 to a 10. Any other purple lines I used washed out really quickly, but the Pravana stayed longer than any others.) But if you really want staying power in bright colors, and it's only to be in a few areas (chunks, strips, etc) you really can't beat extensions....No need to prelighten (and potentially damage) hair....minimal fading....and when the client is tired of the bright color it's a snap to remove. And (in my humble experience) Manic Panic has a great selection of colors, but I have yet to find one with serious staying power. Jean's color has a great *deep red* that was my mainstay for the last few years, but I've since replaced with Pravana. It lasts longer, is easier to saturate the hair with, and you can always mix a few tubes together until you have the exact shade you are looking for. Just my two cents
