Or any acrylic nails? Mine seem to be either to thick or to thin and flat

Salon nails for everyday should be credit card thick. Something I heard as a rule of thumb during a competition I did years ago.

I suppose you could just give an exact measurement here.

And you want to make sure you have the apex in the proper place, and it should be about twice as thick as at the free edge, and all tapered smoothly into the sidewalls and cuticle area.

I have a client who wants and NEEDS hers thick. She's a waitress and says they break otherwise - she also wears them quite long (I know, combo of things...)
When they are thick, she has no problems, when they are thinner, she has issues.
Most clients of mine don't want them thick though - hers however seem to be fine, so I'm going to just go with it (she's a new client of mine)

I do them different thicknesses depending on what they do with their hands. The lady who does my threading, for instance, is always snapping the nails on two or three fingers. Once we figured that out, and I made them thicker, that problem disappeared. I also have another client who works on a car assembly line and she likes them thicker, even though she wears gloves.

Here's the information I wrote for Nailpro Competitions, including the measurements:

Competition-style – the ultimate standard of perfection for all nail enhancements; a set of nail enhancements that have:
• a sleeker, more dramatic look;
• a shape that ranges from extreme square to oval;
• a 1 to 1 ratio of nail bed (pink) to free edge (white), measured from the center of the smile line;
• product thinly applied near the cuticle area, reinforced at the stress area, and tapered through the free edge to a thickness approximately equal to the thickness of a business card to a credit card (.01 to .03 inches);
• consistent c-curves between 40% and 50% (144° and 180° arc)

Salon-style – the standard of perfection for the Salon Success competition; a set of nail enhancements that have:
• a more durable, wearable look;
• a shape that ranges from extreme square to oval;
• a 2 to 1 ratio of nail bed (pink) to free edge (white), measured from the center of the smile line;
• product thinly applied near the cuticle area, reinforced at the stress area, and tapered through the free edge to a thickness approximately equal to the thickness of a credit card (.03 inches);
• consistent c-curves of 33.33 % and 40% (120° and 144° arc)
