Short nails

I have a client with extremely short nails! I am unsure of how to apply acrylic nails without making a tip "stick" to her skin! Is there a trick to creating length to her very short nails without the use of tips?
I really don't even think she has enough nail to get a form under! Any suggestions would be a great help.

on the youngnails.com website, click on video tutorials then bitten nails, it is a 3 or 4 part series...

The video above is how I learned to apply acrylic to short nails! It always works for me! But I always sculpt and don't even own tips...
