Does anyone use Gelish over acrylic nails? If so do you still use the foundation gel base and the top it off gel topcoat? I have never done it on acrylics before. I guess I don't know why you would to start with. Also do you charge more? For a regular fill I charge $22.00 and that's with regular polish.

I do it over ac all the time...i dont use a base coat and i do use the topcoat.. LOVE it. You have to raise your price for that.. I would think you could charge at least 30. Gel polishes are a little pricey you have to add that and the extra time into the price i would think...Im sure you will get better answers then mine though

Thanks for the response Cindy. The gel polishes are a lot more money and I know I would need to raise the price if a customer wants the Gelish. I live in a very small town and don't want to charge too much.

I use it all the time, and I agree the Gelish top coat is really great. I charge $33 for an acrylic fill with a gel color.

I charge $9 extra for gel polish on top of the fill price, and $14 extra if they want a French with gel polish.

I don't offer enhancements with regular polish and never have (because I've only been in the salon three years). If I'm doing a basic fill with just a clear gel top coat it's $35, and a basic fill with gel polish is $45. If someone absolutely pushed me (no one ever has) to use regular polish I would still likely charge the $45 because in all reality it would take the same amount of time because they would sit there letting the polish dry for a bit. For someone new to my shop, I just explain that the gp will stay beautiful until their next fill, whereas regular polish starts to fade away at the tips before they're ready to come back, everyone loves that their gel polish stays so gorgeous.

I charge $10 extra for gel polish over acrylics. No base, but I do use top it off. Speeds up time getting clients out of my chair and not having to redo smudges. No one wants to wear reg polish now. May be posting a bunch on the swap and shop lol.

With Gelish you do not have to use Base, but with OPI Gelcolor you properly need the Base.
